Mayor's Corner

Spring 2019

The City of Deming would like the community to know that we appreciate your patience as we move forward with the many different and, in some cases, unique projects that we have in the works. The City's goal to create opportunities for growth, and a better quality of life for its citizens.

Some street work has been completed on the following streets: Hickory, Oak, Ash, North 8th, James and Myrtle. We will continue to spend monies from the General Obligation Fund designated to address street issues as identified in the City's Pavement Maintenance Plan. So be prepared for more construction detours this summer. The walking path on Florida from State Road 11 to 8th Street is now complete, and we are happy to say is being used daily by the community.

File Construction of Las Cruces was awarded the bid for the completion of the Recreation Reuse Storage Project at Pit Park, and they are on location as construction is in full swing. The other portion of this project is the effluent line that was installed. This was the construction project from Country Club Road down Poplar Street to Girl Scout Park. Again, we appreciate the community's patience with construction and the detours that were created during the installation process. Also, I would like to remind the community that these projects were designed to conserve fresh water as they will allow the City to save approximately 300 to 350 million gallons of fresh water annually!

We invite you to schedule an appointment with staff should you have any concerns or issues that we can assist you with or to attend the City Council meetings held every 2nd Monday of every month. We hope you have a wonderful spring and a great summer.
Benny L. Jasso, Mayor
